Resume Tips

Your resume is your most important calling card in your job search and should include the following information:

Contact information. Include phone, mail and email contact information. This information should be located on the top of the first page of your resume. In addition, make sure your voicemail message is professional. A message that is too casual can create a negative impression.
Career objective. We recommend experienced candidates do not place Career Objectives on their resumes, as employers tend to second guess those statements.
Summary Statement (optional). If you choose to include a Summary Statement, list skills that are either unique or not covered elsewhere on your resume.
Example: “Mechanical Engineer with over 10 years of experience with 2 Fortune 500 companies. Technical and Management skills include plant project engineering in process systems, material handling and plant utilities. 3 years plant maintenance management experience, supervised 22 technicians, 2 supervisors. Bilingual in Spanish and English.”
Professional experience. List each position held in reverse chronological order, dating back at least ten years. If you held multiple positions within the same company, list them all to show advancement and growth. The body of each position description should describe your responsibilities and accomplishments.
Other components. Include education (dates are not required if it has been more than 10 years since you completed college), professional training, affiliations/appointments, licenses, technical skills and languages.
Personal information. Do not include personal information such as date of birth or marital status.

• Improved record keeping process
• Successful marketing campaigns
